LYNYRD SKYNYRD have canceled last night’s concert (Tuesday, September 24) at Sullivan Arena in Anchorage, Alaska due to a medical emergency.
Band issued the following statement: “LYNYRD SKYNYRD has cancelled tonight’s appearance at Sullivan Sports Arena in Anchorage, Alaska. Early this morning, [LYNYRD SKYNYRD singer] Johnny Van Zant was informed his daughter must undergo emergency surgery. Johnny has asked all fans to pray for a successful procedure and recovery.
“For all ticket holders of the Anchorage appearance, direction tied to refunds will be forthcoming shortly. Updates tied to all confirmed upcoming appearances will be announced in the coming days.”
The concert, titled “Lynyrd Skynyrd: Celebrating 50 Years,” paid tribute to the band’s legacy of rock classics. Although the group, originally formed in Florida, created many iconic hits, none of the original lineup members are still alive. Founding guitarist Gary Rossington, who passed away last year, was the last surviving member of the original band.
