In a journey back to their roots, Max and Igor Cavalera embarked on a project to re-record their earliest and most brutal SEPULTURA albums.

Morbid Visions and Bestial Devastation received the bone-crushing treatment in 2023, and just this year, they capped off the trilogy with a re-imagined version of Schizophrenia.

When asked by Overdrive.ie‘s Oran O’Beirne if they plan to tackle other SEPULTURA albums, Max revealed (as transcribed by Blabbermouth): “Fans have asked us that, and there’s both sides of the argument. Some people say we should do the other ones, but I think it’s okay. I think those three are the ones that really needed it, because they were done in Brazil. Once [producer] Scott Burns got involved — I don’t have a problem with the Beneath The Remains sound. I think it sounds great. It has that Scott Burns sound that is a stamp of the death metal sound of the era. And I wouldn’t dare touch Chaos A.D. and Roots.”

“We kind of know our barriers and we know our limitations, which is good,” he added. “Some bands don’t — some people don’t; they just keep going. I think we’re gonna play a live it, though. I would love to see a Chaos A.D. tour [with Max and Igor‘s CAVALERA project]… That’s totally on the table. That’s on the table.”

Max Cavalera left SEPULTURA in 1996 after the rest of the band split with his wife Gloria as their manager. His brother Igor stuck around with the group for another 10 years before leaving SEPULTURA and re-teaming with Max in CAVALERA CONSPIRACY.

This past April, SEPULTURA guitarist Andreas Kisser spoke about the possibility of reuniting with Cavalera brothers during an appearance on Conectados program on Transamérica radio, in São Paulo.

He said: “I think the idea of a last and final show, it would be interesting to have the members, including, obviously, [the Cavalera brothers].” We have Jean DolabellaEloy [Casagrande] himself, Jairo Guedz, other musicians who took part, such as Roy Mayorga and Max and Iggor himself”.

“But man, this is something that… this will be a little later. I would really like to invite everyone, right? But that doesn’t just depend on us.”

When discussing his relationship with MaxAndreas said: “Man, I don’t know, I saw him, I don’t know, like six, seven years ago, at a festival. We greeted each other. Dude, there’s no such thing as seeing each other and hanging out at each other’s necks, there’s no such thing as that, you know? We don’t have this aggressiveness or hatred thing. I don’t hate Max at all, I respect Max and Igor a lot. If it happens, it will be beautiful. But also, if it doesn’t happen, we’ll celebrate it the same way.”
