Meet Tuzla’s MATORI NEK SJEDNU: A Playful Approach To Serious Hardcore

Matori Nek Sjednu

Tuzla’s (Bosnia and Herzegovina) alternative music scene has recently given rise to a new hardcore band with a name as unforgettable as their live energy: MATORI NEK SJEDNU. With their formation, they’ve once again proven a popular saying in local underground circles—“Hardcore is from Tuzla.”

Formed in 2024, the band quickly made an impression, delivering live performances that combine unrestrained energy with a sense of playful chaos. Their lyrics are full of irony and celebrate (or lampoon) the antiheroes of the local community—often spending more time in the crowd than on stage. Adding to the theatricality, their outfits frequently feature soccer jerseys from the band members’ youth. As they put it themselves: “a playful approach to serious work.”

Their debut single, “Smrad”, serves as a sort of elegy inspired by the environment and winter in Tuzla. Unlike the lighthearted, satirical tracks such as “Edo Medo”, “Lijep i sunčan dan”, or “Panker Dado”, “Smrad” carries a weight that symbolically envelops the listener, both in sound and visuals. The lyrics were written by frontman Dennis Duraković, while the entire band contributed to the music. Production, mixing, and mastering were handled by Mladen Ristić, and the accompanying music video was directed by Darin Ramić Mazalović.

The band has revealed that their album, Kljusine, has been completed after a year of meticulous work. Another single with a video is slated for release soon, followed by the full album on May 1, 2026, featuring eight original tracks.

Despite their short history, MATORI NEK SJEDNU has already played over twenty shows across Bosnia and Herzegovina. Notable appearances include the Rooftop Manifesto II Festival in Banja Luka in 2024 and Kaleidoskop Festival in Tuzla in 2025.

The current lineup consists of:

  • Dennis Duraković – vocals
  • Mladen Ristić – guitar
  • Andrej “The Chairman” Stolica – bass
  • Dino Kapidžić – drums

With their mix of humor, local pride, and hardcore intensity, MATORI NEK SJEDNU is one of Tuzla’s most exciting new bands to watch.
