MEGADETH Performs ‘Liar’ For First Time In 18 Years (Video)

Megadeth Liar Live 2024

After nearly twenty years, MEGADETH brought back their song “Liar” to the stage during their August 9th show at the YouTube Theater in Inglewood, California. Fan-filmed video of the performance can be seen below.

“Liar” is a scathing attack on former guitarist Chris Poland, with Dave Mustaine accusing him of theft and drug use.

Poland confirmed in a 2022 interview with Sofa King Cool that Dave Mustaine wrote the song “Liar” about him. He said at the time: “Oh, yeah. Obviously, Dave was very upset with me when I left the band — when he fired me, basically.”

When asked if he was upset upon learning he was the lyrical inspiration for the song, Poland responded: “No, man. It’s like the pot calling the kettle black, man. When you point your finger, man, there’s three pointing back at you. I just rolled my eyes and was, like, ‘Really?'”

Poland was a member of MEGADETH from 1984 to 1987, during which he played on the band’s iconic albums Killing Is My Business… And Business Is Good! and Peace Sells… But Who’s Buying? He also contributed as a featured soloist on their 2004 album, The System Has Failed.
