MEGADETH has released their new single “I Don’t Care,” accompanied by an official music video, giving fans a first visual glimpse of what will be the band’s final studio album, Megadeth, arriving January 23, 2026 via Dave Mustaine’s Tradecraft imprint under Frontiers Label Group’s BLKIIBLK label.
The track is the second single from the album, following “Tipping Point,” and showcases the thrash legends at full force. The release of the music video adds another layer to the song’s impact, featuring intense visuals that perfectly match its high-energy riffs and confrontational lyrics.
MEGADETH leader Dave Mustaine spoke about the anthemic track: “How many times have you wanted to say this to someone? I know you want to! Deep down inside, if we had the balls, we would tell more people ‘I don’t care’ more often.”
Musically, Mustaine delves into the craftsmanship behind the song: “Part of the main riff in this track had been floating around in my head since we did [2022’s] The Sick, The Dying… And The Dead!, so I was pumped to start recording ‘I Don’t Care’ for this LP. I really love the guitar nuances in the track. There is the main rhythm riff, next, a very deliberate down-picking part, next, the octave chords with jump picking on octave notes (while still down-picking!). And the soloing and back and forth between me and Teemu [Mäntysaari] is magnificent!!”
The self-titled album will be a historic milestone for the band, marking not only the follow-up to 2022’s The Sick, The Dying… And The Dead! but also MEGADETH’s final studio release. Mustaine confirmed earlier this year that the band will retire after a global farewell tour, closing out decades of redefining and reshaping the metal genre.
