This is definitely the year of bringing back Thrash Metal. I have lost count of how many bands we had here so far. We have had the releases of iconic bands as Testament and The Mist among others. Now we have the comeback of another cult band from the late 1980s and early 1990s, and a band we reviewed their reissued debut album the 1990s “Then Came the Killing.” Here we are with “Embrace the Awakening.“
Well, at first with album first kill “Architects Of The Silent War,“ Mezzrow deceive a little the unadvised fan with some bass strumming that leads to any kind of music except Thrash Metal, but soon this is overcome with the typical Mezzrow‘s guitar finesse. The fan will have another surprise with “Inside The Burning Twilight” and its jazzy influences that makes the aforementioned uitar finesse larger than life. By the way, it is interesting how a subgenre that was born to plain and simple inspired by Hardcore would be known for having so great instrumentals. “Architects Of The Silent War” not only recreates the band’s great guitar finesse, but also spreads tha band’s fury. With “Sleeping Cataclysm“ the initial guitar riffing recreate a machine gun sound which is highly appropriate to the subgenre besides the singalong warcry, another musical signature of Mezzrow. “Symphony Of Twisted Souls“ commences slow with a nice melodic bass strumming trying to cool out a little before the known storm the band recreates.
“Embrace the Awakening” is a great comeback album for a band that did not forget its roots. “Embrace the Awakening” is not that different from 1990s “Then Came the Killing.” Better yet, Mezzrow were wise enought to keep the great music they did before adding only some more modern features. Bottomline, this is an album to praise.
Mezzrow “Embrace the Awakening” was released on November 14th via ROAR.

I’m just a lucky guy who has chosen metal to live with for a long time. Metal changed my life for good. It made me more confident and stronger. Metalheads are naturally far away from the mass mediocrity and don’t accept impostures from anybody else. Metal is more than music, it’s a life changing oportunity!
