Miss World Chile Contestant Sings Death Metal During Semifinal

Miss Chile Death Metal

Disguised as a contestant in civilian attire at the Miss World Chile 2025 pageant, 27-year-old model Ignacia Fernández found a creative and unexpected way to draw attention to her death metal band Decessus, which she co-founded in 2020. Her performance took place during the nationally televised semifinal on November 2nd.

Ignacia, accompanied by the band’s guitarist Carlos Palma, stunned the audience with a live rendition of one of DECESSUS’ songs, demonstrating her ability to embody a death metal powerhouse while maintaining the poise of a beauty pageant contestant. Although her act was undeniably bold, Fernández admitted to feeling nervous performing a death metal track on national television.

“Television lends itself to people making memes and making fun of you,” she said (via Blabbermouth). “The song I sang is by my band. It’s my job, my life.”

She also took a moment to explain the careful preparation behind her vocals for live performances:

“I studied for more than two years, very focused. I have an ENT [ears, nose and throat] specialist and a speech therapist with whom I constantly make sure that everything is okay. I warm up during the day and before a show I take between 15 and 30 minutes to do several exercises calmly.”

Ignacia Fernández continues to defy expectations, proving that one can be both a pageant contender and a death metal vocalist. Fans and followers alike are rooting for her to bring the title home.
