MÖTLEY CRÜE Releases Cover Of BEASTIE BOYS’ ‘(You Gotta) Fight For Your Right (To Party!)’

Motley Crue 2024

MÖTLEY CRÜE has just dropped a new single, a cover of the BEASTIE BOYS‘ iconic track “(You Gotta) Fight For Your Right (To Party!)”.

Similar to “Dogs Of War,” which was released in April, CRÜE‘s version of “(You Gotta) Fight For Your Right (To Party!)” was recorded in April 2023 with their longtime producer, Bob Rock. Another track, “Canceled,” was also recorded during the sessions but hasn’t been released yet.

MÖTLEY CRÜE first performed their cover of “(You Gotta) Fight For Your Right (To Party!)” at a “secret” club show on June 30, 2023, in front of 450 lucky fans at the Underworld in London, England.

In a recent interview with Metal Hammer, band’s frontman Vince Neil suggested that a three-track EP is in development for release later this year, whereas the CRÜE‘s first full studio album since 2008’s Saints Of Los Angeles will be put on hold until the band frees up their live schedule.

Neil mentioned: “What stage are we at? We’re at no stage right now. We gotta start writing new songs, but we leave in two weeks and you can’t write an album on tour. We’ll get back in the studio at some point – maybe next year.”

“I don’t like the state of music these days,” he added. “You get Taylor Swift and Beyoncé now, and that’s it. I’m a classic rock kind of guy. I like the old stuff. We want to show a new generation of fans what rock ‘n’ roll is all about.”

In a previous interview with Desert SunMÖTLEY CRÜE drummer Tommy Lee discussed the three fresh tracks that he and his bandmates worked on alongside producer Bob Rock. The new songs include “Dogs Of War” and a rendition of BEASTIE BOYS‘ “(You Gotta) Fight For Your Right (To Party!)”.

“Wait until you hear it. It’s insane,” he says. “It’s not a full album, but that might be down the road a bit. We’re always writing and doing stuff, so that’s always a possibility down the road. But we just went to the studio not too long ago and recorded three insane tracks and one of them is called ‘Dogs Of War’. We’re just finishing up the video for it. For those jonesing for some new CRÜE, people are going to bug out. [New MÖTLEY CRÜE guitarist] John 5 is playing on it, the guitar work is incredible and it sounds sick.”
