In a recent social media post, MÖTLEY CRÜE bassist Nikki Sixx has hinted at considering retirement from the band to focus on spending more quality time with his daughter.

Nikki wrote in a post on his Facebook page: “Honestly, it’s really getting harder and harder to be on the road and away from my daughter and wife-I missed so much of my older kids childhood because of touring. Its still hard to except even years later. You never get that time back.——Now I love playing for fans and live and in yer face but being away from the family is becoming a cross I will have to bear sooner or later if my daughter is gonna come first. On that note I thought the show was pretty hood tonight. Thank you.”

In 2014-2015, MÖTLEY CRÜE embarked on what was billed as their final tour, aptly named “The Final Tour.” With Alice Cooper as the opening act, the band seemed to be putting a definitive cap on their legendary career. They even went as far as signing a “cessation of touring” agreement, vowing never to tour again after the conclusion of their farewell tour. This decision left fans nostalgic yet convinced that they had witnessed the last live performances of the iconic rock band.

The Reunion

Despite the seemingly definitive farewell, the band’s hiatus was not to last. In a surprising turn of events, MÖTLEY CRÜE announced their reunion in 2019, breaking the cessation of touring agreement. This unexpected comeback was fueled by renewed interest in the band, partly due to the success of their biographical film The Dirt on Netflix. The movie, based on their 2001 autobiography, introduced a new generation to the wild and decadent world of MÖTLEY CRÜE, reigniting the fervor of their fanbase.

Following their reunion announcement, MÖTLEY CRÜE revealed plans for a 2020 stadium tour alongside DEF LEPPARD, POISON, and JOAN JETT & THE BLACKHEARTS. Although the tour was postponed due to the global pandemic, the band’s enthusiasm and commitment to their return remained strong. They eventually hit the road in 2022, thrilling audiences with their electrifying performances and proving that their rock ‘n’ roll spirit was as fiery as ever.

On October 26, 2022, guitarist Mick Mars announced his retirement from touring with MÖTLEY CRÜE. The following day, the band confirmed that John 5 had taken his place.

In April 2023, Mars initiated legal action against his MÖTLEY CRÜE bandmates, alleging that he was unjustly terminated by his “brothers of 41 years.”

In the lawsuitMick alleges that MÖTLEY CRÜE reduced his share of earnings from 25 percent to a mere 5 percent after revealing his decision to withdraw from touring. Additionally, he states that the group’s attorneys made him feel as if he should appreciate this minimal portion, as they believed they had no obligation to provide him with anything. Mick also asserts that a complete band gathering took place where they chose to “unilaterally” exclude him from MÖTLEY CRÜE.

Mick consistently alleged that bassist Nikki Sixx was “gaslighting” him by suggesting his guitar abilities were declining, even though Sixx didn’t “play a single note on bass” throughout a recent tour, as stated by the guitarist. Mick asserts that all of Nikki‘s segments were pre-recorded.
