NERGAL Speaks On What He Had To Do To Get GHOST’s TOBIAS FORGE On New ME AND THAT MAN Album

Nergal Tobias Forge

In a new interview with Ultimate-Guitar, BEHEMOTH leader Adam “Nergal” Darski talked about collaborating with GHOST mastermind Tobias Forge on the ME AND THAT MAN project project.

Tobias performed on ME AND THAT MAN‘s “Under the Spell” song under the alias of Mary Goore, which he used when he was the guitarist of CRASHDÏET between 2000 and 2002.

On how entire process went of getting Forge to guest on ME AND THAT MAN‘s new album, New Man, New Songs, Same Sh*t, Vol 2, Nergal said: “I jumped on the plane in Poland, I flew over to Stockholm because ù the way he likes to cooperate, if he’s gonna do anything… He wasn’t entirely sure that he will do it — he was interested, he dug the song, he liked it, and he was like, ‘Yeah, we can try…’

“But he wasn’t really interested in this online cooperation, so I made this effort and, of course, I think it was absolutely worth it,” he continued.

“He pulled it off so well, he’s also awesome, he’s open-minded, I’m very happy. And the response — the response so far has been f*ckin’ ‘Wow!’ I’m super happy, I couldn’t be happier about that. But it was the only face-to-face collaboration on this album, so that’s quite interesting as well.

“He was in the studio, coming up with some stuff for the next GHOST endeavor, and he took his precious time to work on that song. We took a whole afternoon, ’til evening, and we had the song nailed, went out for dinner and a glass of wine, had a great chat, and then I walked him to his apartment and walked back to my hotel, and I f*cked off.

“During that stay, I also really wanted to make — because LG [the late ENTOMBED singer Lars-Goran Petrov] was still around, and I really wanted to make like a surprise and just show up at his apartment. He was either at his apartment or the hospital, I don’t remember now — but then someone spoiled that, and LG called me back and said, ‘Sorry man, not today, I’m going through a procedure, so next time.’ And sadly, there was no next time, because when I left, a few months later, he was already in Valhalla, sadly [Petrov passed away on March 7, 2021].”
