NEVERMORE Play First Show With New Lineup In Istanbul (Video)

Nevermore Live 2026

The new lineup of NEVERMORE has officially made its live debut, performing earlier today, April 1, 2026, in Istanbul, Turkey, marking the band’s first concert with its refreshed formation.

The show comes shortly after the band confirmed major changes to its immediate touring plans, including the cancellation of their previously announced appearance at ProgPower USA XXV, scheduled for September 9–12, 2026 at Center Stage Atlanta in Atlanta, Georgia.

That withdrawal followed an official statement from the group explaining that ongoing delays in securing a work permit for their vocalist made a U.S. appearance impossible at this stage. The band expressed regret over the situation, addressing both fans and festival organizers while making clear that the setback is temporary.

Despite the cancellation, NEVERMORE reassured fans that their return to American stages is still planned for the future, with new music on the way and a broader touring push expected in 2027.

The Istanbul concert, however, signals a fresh start for the group’s current era. The updated lineup—featuring longtime members guitarist Jeff Loomis and drummer Van Williams alongside guitarist Jack Cattoi, bassist Semir Özerkan, and vocalist Berzan Önen—took the stage together for the first time as a unified live unit.

The performance also comes as the band continues its partnership with Reigning Phoenix Music, with additional international shows expected to be announced later this year as NEVERMORE builds momentum following its return to the stage.

On this new chapter, guitarist Loomis and Williams previously shared: “We are thrilled to announce that NEVERMORE has officially signed with Reigning Phoenix Music! It was obvious from the start that they were the perfect partner for the new era of NEVERMORE. Their passion for metal music combined with the extensive industry pedigree of their team made the choice easy. We can’t wait to get back on stage in front of our fans in Istanbul on April 1st, and we are just as excited to finish writing and putting together the new NEVERMORE album!”

Reigning Phoenix Music co-founder Gerado Martinez commented on NEVERMORE joining the RPM roster: “There are no words to describe how proud and excited RPM is at the prospect of being part of NEVERMORE‘s next chapter. Having been a fan since 1995 when I saw them on tour with DEATH, I’ve followed them on their entire musical journey and cannot wait for what is yet to come.”

NEVERMORE disbanded in 2011 when Loomis and drummer Williams parted ways with the band, citing personal differences with vocalist Warrel Dane and bassist Jim Sheppard. In a later interview, Dane referred to NEVERMORE as “the greatest band that alcohol ever ruined.”

Tragically, Dane passed away in December 2017 at the age of 56 while recording his solo album, Shadow Work, in São Paulo, Brazil. Reports indicate he suffered a heart attack during the night and could not be revived.”
