According to Deadline, Nick Jonas — best known as one-third of the massively successful pop/rock trio the Jonas Brothers — is set to portray legendary KISS frontman Paul Stanley in the long-anticipated biopic Shout It Out Loud. The film, directed by Joseph McGinty Nichol (a.k.a. McG), is expected to begin production later this year or in early 2026.
Jonas has been gradually building his acting résumé in recent years, with roles in films like Goat (2016) and Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle. In Shout It Out Loud, he will reportedly perform his own vocals, stepping into Stanley’s iconic platform boots both as an actor and a singer. The biopic is being produced by STX Entertainment, with a recent script draft penned by Darren Lemke, whose previous credits include Shazam! and Gemini Man.
The project has been in development for some time, originally announced as a Netflix production under director Joachim Rønning, known for Kon-Tiki, Maleficent: Mistress of Evil, and Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales.
Back in 2021, KISS’s longtime manager Doc McGhee shared details about the film’s direction during an interview with Talking Metal. “The script is completely done,” McGhee said at the time. “It’s about the first four years of KISS — basically, it’s before they were famous. It was up to Cadillac High, that kind of thing.” The reference points to the band’s famed 1975 performance in a high school gym in Cadillac, Michigan — a pivotal moment in their early rise.
McGhee emphasized that the film will explore not just the origins of KISS, but also the cultural climate of the late ’60s and early ’70s that allowed such a theatrical and genre-defying band to break through. “It’s a very interesting look at the formation of KISS,” he added. “And I think it’s a well-written movie.”
Shout It Out Loud promises to chronicle the untold story behind one of rock’s most flamboyant and influential acts — now with Nick Jonas bringing Paul Stanley’s star-powered persona to life on the big screen.
