MÖTLEY CRÜE bassist Nikki Sixx has shared a powerful message about health, longevity, and leaving his reckless past behind.
In a social media post on Friday, July 12, Sixx, 66, reflected on his lifestyle changes and his determination to live a long, healthy life — possibly up to 100 years old.
“As some of you know I take my health extremely serious,” he wrote. “I work HARD and I’m not interested in dying from work and BS STRESS.”
Sixx revealed he undergoes regular blood work twice a year and emphasized how focused he is on evolving his health. “Just got back today’s newest results and considering some misadventures in the past, this 66-year-old pirate ship looks ready to go back to sea.”
Reflecting on his personal growth and the family he now treasures, he added: “I have a wonderful wife, 5 golden children and a beautiful granddaughter. Do you think any part of my past indulgences is worth destroying the beautiful life I built? Never.”
Calling out the need for personal accountability, Sixx continued: “This is it. Either get your s**t tighter or die a slow death crawl. We all die, some just give up sooner…. I’m planning on cracking 100. That will piss off the critics.”
Sixx‘s message resonated with fans, especially given his well-documented battle with substance abuse. He famously overdosed on heroin in 1987 and was declared clinically dead for two minutes before being revived. Since then, he’s committed himself to sobriety, actively participating in a recovery program that he credits with transforming his life and relationships.
