Esteemed Italian label code666 have announced that they will release votIVe by black metal band OPHIDIAN FOREST. The album is set to be released October 26 2018 as a CD and digital download and features Otrebor from critically acclaimed black metal band Botanist.
The band commented “Ophidian Forest has toiled in the under – underground for 10 years. We’re very pleased to have what is clearly our best effort yet released on a professional, distributed label like Code666. We believe the band will now have the proper chan ce to grow into its full potential. We look forward to the journey.”
The new album is a conceptual one, paying tribute to seven pre-Christian, Pagan gods in as many songs. Stylistically, the band has moved away from its more “chaotic, Heathen black metal” approach from the bands’ previous full-lengths and EPs, and to a more progressive, psychedelic, keyboard-driven vibe while solidly staying within the black metal canon.
Artwork for the album was designed by BlackInkVoid. The music was composed and recorded in the three members’ home studios, mixed by D. and mastered by Jack Shirley at The Atomic Garden (Botanist, Deafheaven, Bosse-de-Nage), in Oakland, California.
