One of the most talked-about collaborations at BLACK SABBATH’s monumental “Back To The Beginning” farewell concert on July 5 came in the form of a surprise all-star performance of Ozzy Osbourne’s 1986 hit “Shot In The Dark.”
The supergroup featured a powerhouse lineup of Ozzy collaborators and metal veterans:
- Jake E. Lee (Ozzy Osbourne, BADLANDS) on guitar
- Mike Bordin (Faith No More, Ozzy Osbourne) on drums
- David Ellefson (ex-MEGADETH) on bass
- Adam Wakeman (Ozzy Osbourne) on keys
- David Draiman (DISTURBED) on vocals
Taking the stage during one of the event’s “Supergroup” slots, the band delivered a faithful and electrifying rendition of the classic track from Ozzy’s The Ultimate Sin album. The chemistry between these seasoned musicians was undeniable — and Draiman’s dramatic vocals gave the song a modern edge while honoring the original’s melodic punch.
This surprise performance was just one of many heartfelt tributes to Ozzy throughout the day. The “Back To The Beginning” show, curated by Tom Morello and hosted by Jason Momoa, featured a stacked lineup of metal legends and rising stars paying homage to BLACK SABBATH’s lasting influence.
Though the event was billed as a livestream, it’s being broadcast with a two-hour delay. Viewers in the U.S. can stream the full concert starting at 10 a.m. ET / 7 a.m. PT.
