PAPA V PERPETUA, NUNO BETTENCOURT, VERNON REID, RUDY SARZO & TRAVIS BARKER Perform OZZY OSBOURNE’s ‘Bark At The Moon’ At ‘Back To The Beginning’

Papa V Perpetua Bark At The Moon

One of the wildest moments at BLACK SABBATH’s farewell “Back To The Beginning” concert came when a genre-blending all-star supergroup tore through a scorching version of Ozzy Osbourne’s iconic 1983 anthem “Bark At The Moon.”

The powerhouse lineup featured:

Papa V Perpetua (GHOST) – vocals

Nuno Bettencourt (EXTREME) – lead guitar

Vernon Reid (LIVING COLOUR) – guitar

Rudy Sarzo (QUIET RIOT, Ozzy Osbourne) – bass

Travis Barker (BLINK-182) – drums

The performance took place at Villa Park in Birmingham, UK, on July 5, as part of the second “supergroup” segment in the evening’s jam-packed schedule. Kicking off with Nuno’s lightning-fast guitar intro and Vernon Reid’s funk-laced heaviness, the group launched into a version of “Bark At The Moon” that was both faithful and uniquely modern.

Papa V Perpetua — donning his GHOST regalia — commanded the stage with theatrical flair, bringing an eerie, powerful energy to the classic track. Meanwhile, Sarzo, a veteran of Ozzy’s original Bark At The Moon era, delivered a thunderous low end, and Travis Barker drove the performance with his trademark intensity and precision.

A Show Full of Surprises

The “Back To The Beginning” concert, curated by Tom Morello and hosted by Jason Momoa, featured a full day of iconic performances from bands like SLAYER, METALLICA, TOOL, ALICE IN CHAINS, and LAMB OF GOD, as well as rare team-ups like this one.

Two specially designated “supergroup” time slots allowed for jaw-dropping combinations of rock and metal royalty, and the “Bark At The Moon” performance was easily one of the highlights of the evening.

Fans who weren’t at the venue can still watch the event thanks to a two-hour delayed livestream, available in the U.S. starting at 10 a.m. ET / 7 a.m. PT.

Fan-shot videos of the “Bark At The Moon” performance are already making the rounds online, and we’ll be updating Metal Addicts with official footage, more photos, and full highlights from this once-in-a-lifetime tribute to BLACK SABBATH and Ozzy Osbourne.
