Following the death of BLACK SABBATH frontman and heavy metal icon Ozzy Osbourne on July 22, new reports have emerged detailing the desperate efforts made by emergency responders to save his life.
According to Mail Online, an air ambulance was dispatched to Osbourne’s Buckinghamshire residence around 10:15 a.m. on the morning of his passing. Locals reported seeing the helicopter land and immediately feared the worst due to the singer’s well-known health struggles.
“We immediately feared it may be for him as he was known to be in fragile health,” one anonymous local told the publication. “When we heard later that night that he had died it confirmed our worst fears.”
A Thames Valley Air Ambulance representative confirmed the emergency call-out, saying: “Our helicopter was dispatched to provide advanced critical care at an incident near Chalfont St Giles yesterday.”
Reports indicate that paramedics fought for two hours to save Osbourne’s life but were ultimately unsuccessful.
While an official cause of death has not been revealed, Osbourne had battled Parkinson’s disease and lingering complications from a serious 2019 fall that left him requiring multiple surgeries. His declining health had forced him to retire from touring, though he returned to the stage one final time earlier this month.
Just over two weeks before his death, Ozzy performed what would become his final show during BLACK SABBATH‘s “Back To The Beginning” concert at Villa Park in Birmingham. The event reunited the original lineup—Ozzy, Tony Iommi, Geezer Butler, and Bill Ward—for a historic farewell performance in front of a sold-out hometown crowd.
Osbourne’s family confirmed his passing in a heartfelt message: “It is with more sadness than mere words can convey that we have to report that our beloved Ozzy Osbourne has passed away this morning. He was with his family and surrounded by love. We ask everyone to respect our family privacy at this time. Sharon, Jack, Kelly, Aimee and Louis.”
