PAST M.D. Past the ‘Desert Moon Hotel’

It was one of those rare warm german summer nights, sometime in 2004, when Detlef Poschmann and Jörg Reuter were sitting on the porch, talking about the good old days. Of course, those days were more successful in their talk than in reality.
Midnight Darkness were the band they were playing in, back in 1984. At least the band was in the lucky situation to have more roadies than fans. Not that those guys were necessary, but it was great to have em, cause even for that one single gig a year, it wasn‘t fun to haul those 12 Marshall cabinets from the 4th floor of an old bunker to the truck and back.
However, one record company was stupid enough to waste their money and released an album called “Holding the Night” (whatever the f..k that should mean) in 1985. The future looked bright for Midnight Darkness. But the thought of shoveling the huge amount of equipement around every month, without getting paid, wasn‘t part of the roadies plan. One after another quit. Being too weak to lift the weight on their own, Midnight Darkness finally broke up, shortly after the release of the album.
Back in 2004: Overwhelmed by Poschi‘s (Detlef) sparkling memories, both decided that it‘s time to leave the couch and find their way back into the starlight. Within 3 years they wrote the material for 2 albums. Since no record company was willing to invest their money into 2 old farts, Poschi and Jörg decided to release the songs on their own. The good (and bad) part of those modern times is, that even the lousiest amateur can do that nowadays.
As a hint to the glory Midnight Darkness days, they named their project Past M.D. and released their first album “Part Time Rebellion” in 2008, followed by “Circles” in 2010.
Exhausted by 6 years of more … or less … hard work, the 2 wannabees decided to return to the couch.
It was one of those rare warm german summer nights, sometime in 2020, when Detlef Poschmann and Jörg Reuter were sitting on the porch, talking about the good old days. It resulted in the release of “Desert Moon Hotel” in 2022.
