‘Phenomenal’ Actor To Step Into OZZY OSBOURNE’s Shoes In New Biopic

Ozzy No Escape From Now Trailer

The long-anticipated Ozzy Osbourne biopic is moving closer to reality, and fans now have a tantalizing hint about who will step into the legendary rocker’s shoes.

Jack Osbourne, Ozzy’s son, offered an update on the project during a special holiday episode of Influenced, the SiriusXM show hosted by musician and artist Billy Morrison. He revealed that the film is entering “the next phase of development” with Sony Studios, a project that has been in the works for six years.

“We are in full steam in the next phase of development with this movie. That’s an acted movie that we’ve been developing with Sony studios for, like, six years already,” Jack said.

When asked about who will portray Ozzy, Jack remained tight-lipped but dropped an exciting clue: “We have our decided pick, and I can’t say anything [yet], but it’s a phenomenal, phenomenal actor. We have a director attached, and we’re doing a rewrite right now.”

Billy Morrison remarked that Ozzy would likely be thrilled to see a movie about his life, and Jack agreed wholeheartedly: “Oh, he would,” he said. “And all he kept saying — I’d give him updates: ‘Oh, we met with this guy’, and ‘this is happening’. And he just would go, ‘I don’t give a s**t. Just tell me when it’s out so I can go see it.'”

The project, first reported by Variety in October 2021, is a collaboration between Ozzy and Sharon Osbourne and Sony Pictures, alongside Polygram Entertainment. The biopic will center on the love story between the BLACK SABBATH frontman and his wife and manager. Lee Hall, known for scripting Rocketman, is handling the screenplay.

The film is being produced by Sharon and her children Jack and Aimée Osbourne through Osbourne Media—the company behind God Bless Ozzy Osbourne on Showtime and Biography: The Nine Lives Of Ozzy Osbourne on A&E—alongside Michele Anthony and David Blackman for Polygram Entertainment. Andrea Giannetti is overseeing development for Sony.

Ozzy Osbourne passed away on July 22, 2025, from a heart attack, according to his death certificate, which also noted coronary artery disease and Parkinson’s disease.
