Phil Anselmo paid tribute to his late PANTERA bandmates Vinnie Paul Abbott and “Dimebag” Darrell Abbott during last night’s (Saturday, Sepember 8) PHILIP H. ANSELMO & THE ILLEGALS concert at Trees in Dallas, Texas. Just before launching into a medley of classic PANTERA songs, Anselmo told the crowd: “This goes out to the un-f**king-touchable memory of both Abbott brothers, Vince and Dimebag.” Video footage of the performance can be seen below.
Vinnie Paul and Dimebag co-founded PANTERA. When PANTERA broke up in 2003, they formed DAMAGEPLAN. On December 8, 2004, while performing with DAMAGEPLAN at the Alrosa Villa in Columbus, Ohio, Dimebag was shot and killed onstage by Nathan Gale. He was 38 years old.
