Austin police are asking for the public’s help in identifying a suspect involved in an indecent exposure incident at a clothing store in East Austin earlier this year.
According to the Austin Police Department (APD) Sex Crimes Unit, the incident occurred on Monday, March 30, 2026, at approximately 3:06 p.m. at a store located at 2505 East 6th Street.
Investigators say the suspect entered the store, selected clothing items, and went into a dressing room. While inside, he allegedly left the curtain open and engaged in inappropriate sexual conduct while being indecently exposed.
Police describe the suspect as a white male, approximately 30 years old, with a large build and a reddish beard and mustache.
What has caught attention within the metal community is that the man was wearing a shirt featuring Norwegian black metal pioneers DARKTHRONE at the time of the incident.
Authorities have not released the suspect’s identity and are continuing to review evidence as part of the ongoing investigation. APD is urging anyone who recognizes the individual or has information related to the case to come forward.
Tips can be submitted directly to the APD Sex Crimes Unit at 512-974-5095. Anonymous tips are also accepted through the Capital Area Crime Stoppers Program at austincrimestoppers.org or by calling 512-472-8477.
In unrelated music news, DARKTHRONE are preparing to release their upcoming album Pre-Historic Metal on May 8 via Peaceville. The band has described the title as a reflection of their approach, with Fenriz noting: “Prehistoric is a loose term. I just figure it’s our VIBE, our take on things and it’s more a statement that we use old style to create something new.”
A continuation of 2024’s stellar It Beckons Us All, Pre-Historic Metal is a ferocious slab of primal epics and gargantuan riffs with organic sound, graced with the ever-present permeating spirit of the 70s and 80s. This next chapter in DARKTHRONE’s unyielding saga presents a vast odyssey through the sonic landscapes of Thrash, Black, Heavy and Doom Metal and, adorned with a punishing and “in your face” guitar presence, DARKTHRONE stirs the cauldron of savage creativity with a nod to the writing methods which were indicative of their earlier works of the late 80s, but with a more refined craft.
Pre-Historic Metal was recorded at Chaka Khan Studios, Oslo, with production work conducted by Ole Øvstedal, Silje Høgevold and Mads Luis. Mastering was carried out by Jack Control at Enormous Door, and Maor Appelbaum Mastering.
