A previously unseen rough cut of Perfect Crime, the legendary unreleased GUNS N’ ROSES documentary chronicling the band’s turbulent Use Your Illusion era, has surfaced online more than three decades after it was completed.
Widely regarded as one of the most sought-after pieces of GUNS N’ ROSES history, the documentary was originally assembled in 1994 and reportedly ran approximately 90 minutes in length. However, the version that has now appeared online is a 38-minute rough cut featuring a wealth of behind-the-scenes footage from the band’s globe-spanning Use Your Illusion tour between 1991 and 1993.
The leaked footage offers a rare glimpse into life on the road during one of rock’s most notorious touring cycles. Among the scenes included are extravagant after-show celebrations, unusual backstage moments, and candid interactions between band members away from the stage.
Fans can also see Axl Rose receiving osteopathic treatment on an airport taxiway, as well as studio footage of the singer working on a rendition of THE SKYLINERS‘ classic “Since I Don’t Have You.” Other highlights include hotel-room jam sessions featuring Slash and Izzy Stradlin, interviews with band members, and footage of bassist Duff McKagan being carried offstage on a stretcher after reportedly being struck in the head by a bottle during a concert.
The rough cut additionally contains complete live performances filmed at the Rose Bowl in Pasadena, California, during GUNS N’ ROSES‘ October 1992 appearance at the iconic venue.
Despite years of speculation among fans, Perfect Crime was never officially released and remained largely unseen until the recent leak, further adding to its reputation as one of the band’s most elusive archival projects.
Meanwhile, GUNS N’ ROSES are preparing to launch the next leg of their 2026 world tour. The trek begins in Europe this month before continuing through North America, Asia, Australia, and New Zealand later in the year.
