Some albums really surprise us. The very moment I took a look at the press release I sensed I would not have the guts to review this “OFF THE EDGE” album. If I were in my perfect state of mind, there would not be by a shadow of doubt a chance to review it. However, against all odds and as I always give bands a chance even though the gods telling me not to I put it to play. And you know what? I am reviewing it because I found their music so exciting and fresh.
Yeah, that’s right. I was a little biased about the band’s photos and imagery, but I am very ashamed to have thought like that because S8NT ELEKTRIC’s music is good. It’s not Metal, but, in fact, the band is bordering it with a mix with some weird pop. Bri Carbajal’s voice give some kind of cuteness aggression to the music as it sounds a little as Gwen Stefani’s from the No Doubt era. By the way, the band sounds a lot as a more adrenalized and overdriven No Doubt.
Ok, then. Aside from S8NT ELEKTRIC’s taste for capital letters, as it can be seen by the band’s name and the track listing, “OFF THE EDGE” is an album with lots of nice and heavy moments. Album tittle and warmer “Off the Edge” was the one that really got me and made me write this review. Ok, I confess I had to listen to the following songs to check them all before deciding to review or not.
I am not so into this kind of music, but besides No Doubt there are other influences to the band. A track like “TAR,” for instance, agaits all odds has great guitar leads. On the other hand, the rhthym guitars of “SEASONS OF YESTERDAY” sound a little Metallica’s due to their grave and strong tones. Instrumentals here are so strong and so full of Metal infleunces that my first impression is that the band’s musicains are so into Metal music, but decided to make a pop album to satisfy their needs to play on the radio, I guess. By the way, as we are talking about pop songs, “THE RIVER” does the honors to remind us that.
I will understand if you do not agree with me, my dear child of the night, but give “OFF THE EDGE” a chance, will you. It is not to ask too much. I know sometimes it is so hard to understand my reasons… I do know…

S8NT ELEKTRIC “OFF THE EDGE” will be released on March 17th via Long Branch Records.
