There is nothing like one day after the other, and some might add with a night in between. I was thinking that after reviewing so many bands – so, but so many bands – Melodic Death Metal that I thought it would be getting a little worn-out. But fear not my child of the night who loves Melodic Death Metal, here come Sacriversum with “Before the Birth of Light” proving all of us flat wrong. The music Sacriversum deliver is absolutely fantastic besides being one of the most exciting bands of 2026.
Ok, Sacriversum are not exactly a new band and “Before the Birth of Light” is not their debut album. The band was formed in 1992 and, in fact, this can be heard through the band’s music with no effort. The band’s overtones and, to some extent, the way its music is built addresses right to that epoch. However, it would be so easy to review the album based only on these features. There is much more in the album. Sacriversum built a universe of multiple textures with many layers of sounds. In fact, that includes rare instruments regarding to Death Metal as the piano and the Hammond keyboard, the ones that give the band its unusual musical signature. The most intriguing thing is that the band did not include the instruments to sound Prog or Technical, they did it to sound different. They did it to increase their music and that’s the most marvelous thing about them.
The first time I heard Ozzy’s “Blizzard of Ozz” I fell in love with the keyboards and piano at Heavy Metal music. It is the contrast thing. However, the guitars still shine as the leads in “March Of The Giants“ tell the fan. By the way, I have to be fair with Sacriversum and their guitarists, the family duo Krystian “MacKozer” Kozerawski and Olaf “Olafsson” Kozerawski. Their job here is impecable. The way the duo build their melodies and interventions is totally flatless keeping the sonancies of the past while incorparting new techniques and features. Take a close look at “We Die, We Fly” and its myriad of guitars.
Ok, then, but I have to write the painos and the Hammond keyboard that give Sacriversum their musical signature. Again, pay close attention at the aforementioned track and see how the keyboards add more features and possibilities to the song. The most difficult thing here it is not to sound or address to Deep Purple, a band whose keyboards sound is world famous. By the way, keyboardist Krzysztof “Baran” Baranowicz is a declared fan of Jon Lord and Deep Purple. It’s not only the mood, but the entire song that benefits from its very peculiar sound. In “Let Us Ride The World“ the keyboards create an etheric atmosphere that fits like a glove to the relentless song full of guitars. But the best is still to come with the beautiful and amazing “Golden Lights Of Valhalla” where the piano takes the lead abd make it unforgetable. The union with the guitars is perfect.
“Before the Birth of Light” is a not to miss album.

I’m just a lucky guy who has chosen metal to live with for a long time. Metal changed my life for good. It made me more confident and stronger. Metalheads are naturally far away from the mass mediocrity and don’t accept impostures from anybody else. Metal is more than music, it’s a life changing oportunity!
