There are things in albums that immediately pop up on the mind of the reviewer or the listener. With this Scorching Tomb and heir “Ossuary” the guitars did. “Skullcrush,” for instance, delivers that very interesting effect that first I thought it would be running down and up arpeggios, however, listening to it more carefully, I realized it was not. I cannot remember exactly its name, but the effect was very interesting though. On the other hand, besides the cool guitars, “Ossuary” showcases how the bass can so effective in creating a larger than life heavyness effect on the music as first blood “Stalagmite Impalement” delivers. By the way, I was amazed by the band’s choice of song titles. I keep wondering how a stalagmite impalement would be…
It is clear to me that “Ossuary” was built on strong rhytmic session, the album also presents strong special features as Devin Swank of Sanguisugabogg in the aforementioned “Skullcrush,” and Primal Horde on “Feel the Blade,” the track that delivers a the strongest wall of sound of the album. The impression I get is that there is a chugging haunted train raging fire just behind me ready to punish me for the sins I have written here – Oh, boy, and there are so many of them.
It is interesting how the guitars are at the same time a little sluggish, but thick as hell and shift to the speed-of-the-light mode in a blink of an eye. About the bass lines I mentioned before, there is “Bloodlust Sacrifice” whose guitars emulate bass lines to create that lower tuned effect that gives a heavier sound. By th way, the impression hre is that the guitars are being spanked.
My guess is that “Ossuary” will please both Brutal Death Metal and Funeral Doom fans as grande finale “Expired Existence” showcases elements that address to both styles. Vocalist Vincent Patrick Lajeunesse’s harsher than life voice helps a lot.
Scorching Tomb “Ossuary” was released on October 24th via Time To Kill Records.

I’m just a lucky guy who has chosen metal to live with for a long time. Metal changed my life for good. It made me more confident and stronger. Metalheads are naturally far away from the mass mediocrity and don’t accept impostures from anybody else. Metal is more than music, it’s a life changing oportunity!
