29-Year-Old Man Dies After Fall At Chicago Open Air Festival

According to the Chicago Sun-Times, A 29-year-old man, identified as Robert Smucz, died of injuries he sustained in a fall during the Chicago Open Air festival.

Robert was watching the concert on the mezzanine level of Toyota Park in Bridgeview just after 10 p.m.  just after 10 p.m. when he fell, according to city spokesman Ray Hanania.

 He was pronounced dead at Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn less than an hour later, according to the Cook County medical examiner’s office, which found he died of multiple injuries from an accidental fall. He lived in the 4500 block of North Campbell Avenue.

Witnesses told police that Smucz had been sitting on a railing in the mezzanine section and fell to the concrete below.

Autopsy results indicated that he suffered multiple injuries from the fall, and his death was ruled an accident, the medical examiner’s office said.
