33 People Injured After Lightning Strikes Rock Am Ring In Germany

According to The Guardian, 33 people were injured after lightning hits backstage and camping areas of Rock Am Ring festival in western Germany.

The first strike hit the backstage area at about 1:00 am. Saturday morning, injuring eight people from the festival’s production teams.

After that, organizers offered large lightning-proof tents to shelter the campers before a second bolt struck at 4 a.m., injuring 25 people in one of the campsites.

Police said all of those injured had been taken to hospital for observation and were in good health. No one suffered a direct hit.

The festival, which finishes on Sunday, is continuing as planned. About 90,000 music fans were expected at the event, which is being headlined by FOO FIGHTERS and THE PRODIGY, DIE TOTEN HOSEN and SLIPKNOT
