Cyrax – Pictures

pictures  Metal has taken all sorts of paths and directions as so many bands have so many different visions and so many different ideas that they envision. Progressive metal is the most potent example of this, and Cyrax are by far the most progressive progressive metal band there is out there by miles. Their most recent album, “Pictures”, really captures music as an art and mixes it with so many elements from music of all kinds to create one truly unique experience that you would be hard pressed to find elsewhere. Pianos, violins, guitar, bass; everything! That’s what you’ll find just within the first two tracks of “Pictures” and the rest of the album is just as immense especially with the fact that the metal that Cyrax performs is very much like that of straight heavy metal with a good, classic feel it, and somehow that works magnificently well with all the other instruments that flow in and out of each tracks off this album. What I really love about “Pictures” is just that every single track contains a beautiful symphony and the metal adds an amazing edge to it that you just don’t see mixed with orchestral instruments often, and this is one of those instances where you are just astounded at how well composed everything is and how they intertwine and compliment each other the entire time. It doesn’t take much to see that Cyrax are truly geniuses in their own special little corner of metal, and their small group of followers know that and they love them for it. I expect great things from these Italians, and I cannot express how much you should go and get a taste for the true style that Cyrax has developed in this album.
