DAVE GROHL Reveals Why He Was Denied Entry To PANTERA’s Strip Club

FOO FIGHTERS frontman Dave Grohl remembered taking a wild road trip to PANTERA‘s strip club way back in 1998, telling Tripple M:

“So we make friends with Pantera – and they’re just all about whiskey and boobs – they give us their card, they have their own strip club; it’s called the Clubhouse, it’s outside of Dallas, TX.

“They’re like, ‘Anytime you guys come down to Texas, you got to come down to the Clubhouse, it’s great!’ We’re like, ‘Alright!’ So we finish the tour, and I’m living in Los Angeles at the time, and I was moving back to Virginia where I’m from, so I put all of my stuff in my house on a truck, and Taylor [Hawkins] and I jumped in my truck and did this Dumb and Dumber drive across America.

“We we were so excited! This is 1998, we were basically routing our trip around where our friends lived and where the strip clubs are. It was a real family trip. The first day we’re like, ‘Woo! We’re really doing it man, we’re really doing it!’

“We stopped in Barstow, which is five hours outside of LA, to get gas. We get gas, and we make it to Phoenix that night. We go to check into the hotel, and I realized I had left my wallet on top of this gas tank in Barstow.

“I don’t have credit cards, IDs, or any of that – I’ve got nothing. So I call me accountant, I’m like: ‘Ben, just send me a credit card. I’ve got nothing.’ So he FedExes one out and we keep driving.

“I’m calling the Pantera guys, ‘Alright, we’re coming to the Clubhouse. We’re going to be there, Tuesday night! Tuesday night!’ They’re like, ‘Hell yeah, it’s going to be great!’ So we make this 800-mile detour to get to the Clubhouse, to this strip club.

“We go out to dinner with Taylor’s family, then we’re like, ‘Alright, we’re going to go to this strip club!’ So we go out to the Clubhouse, we get there, I’m like, ‘This is going to be the best f**king night of our lives! This is going to be amazing!’

“So we get there and we walk up, and the guy is like, ‘Can I see some ID please?’ I’m like, ‘Oh, I lost my wallet on this trip.’ He’s like, ‘I can’t let you in unless you have ID.’

“I’m like, ‘But we’re friends with Pantera.’ He’s like, ‘Everyone is friends with Pantera.’ We didn’t get in, we didn’t f**king get in man! I was like, what the f**k!”

Grohl added that 4 years ago he was at a surf shop in Oxnard, and a female employee there asked if he was Dave Grohl. Grohl said he was, and the employee mentioned her parents owned the gas station in Barstow where he lost his wallet. She said they still had it, and they later sent it to Grohl with everything he had in it from 1998.
