Fender Legally Threatening Small-Scale Guitar Manufacturer, Faces Public Backlash

According to The Guitologist, a guitar manufacturer from Cleveland, TN, called Lucky Dog has recently received a legal threat from Fender, which the source described as a “dubious trademark claim.”

Lucky Dog Guitars is a one-man operation led by Anthony Sims. The company makes hand-crafted boutique guitars on a small scale, producing about 75 instruments during its entire operation.

The source reports that the luthier said he was “threatened by Fender several times” regarding the alleged similarities between his Televangelist electric guitar and Fender’s Telecaster model. The latest threat was apparently related to the similarities between the headstocks, which the luthier argues aren’t sufficient for legal action.

In a video shared on Lucky Dog’s Facebook page, Anthony announced the launch of a GoFundMe page to help him cover the legal fees, adding that anyone who donates has the right to deduct the money they gave from a future order.
