Helion Prime – Terror of the Cybernetic Space Monster

There are days we all feel more emotional. And the world conspires with it. Life seems to feel what we need. This time Helion Prime was needed. It comes with a big and pompous title: “Terror of the Cybernetic Space Monster.”

To me, Helion Prime is the kind of name one would give to a planet in Star Trek universe. Yeah, seriously. It reminds names of planets they used in the series. You know what, their music fits in the genre. Well, it’s not the first band in Heavy Metal universe to use science fiction as an inspiration to songs. But, the most interesting thing in Helion Prime is the strong taste of Blind Guardian. Inspirational stuff for lyrics, of course, are pretty different, but musicwise, very near. I’d say Helion Prime are a bit more progressive than Blind Guardian. More melodic as well, but the same nostalgic sonance. Same feeling.

“Terror of the Cybernetic Space Monster” is a great power metal mix. Helion Prime mix them altogether with great mastery. This album has the kind of melody that makes you sing along as in “Urth” or “Silent Skies” which have a perfect combination of punch and chorus. Or the guitar duos in “The Human Condition.” Great chorus as well. As their power metal peers, Helion Prime like epic tunes. “Spectrum” and titlte track, which is seventeen minutes long are perfect pieces. Sozos Michael, who is debuting in “Terror of the Cybernetic Space Monster” does a hell of job. The dude fit perfectly to Helion Prime with his beautiful and well-tuned voice.

“Terror of the Cybernetic Space Monster” is an album for those who love Metal diversity. The ones who listen to all kinds of Metal like me. As I said, we’re privileged people to be heavy metallians. By the way, title track is a killer!
