It’s Official: VIO-LENCE Is Back!

Vio-Lence

After months of speculation, Bay Area thrash metal icons VIO-LENCE have officially confirmed that they are reuniting for at least one show.

The band is scheduled to play a show on Saturday, April 13th at the Oakland Metro in Oakland, California, where they will perform its 1988 debut album “Eternal Nightmare” in its entirety, along with “other surprises.” Tickets are available right here.

The VIO-LENCE lineup that will appear at that show will consist of guitarist Phil Demmel, vocalist Sean Killian, bassist Deen Dell, drummer Perry Strickland and guitarist Ray Vegas. The latter replaces classic lineup-era guitarist Robb Flynn, who left VIO-LENCE about a year before the band’s first breakup in 1993, and has since fronted MACHINE HEAD.

There is no word yet whether the reunion will result in a new album or more than one show.

For the past two years, Killian has been battling stage four liver cirrhosis, which was caused in part by a genetic condition called hemochromatosis.

In January 2018, members of TESTAMENTEXODUS and FORBIDDEN performed at a benefit concert for Killian at The Midway in San Francisco, California. The event concluded with a performance of the VIO-LENCE classic “World In A World” featuring four-fifths of the band’s classic lineup — FlynnDemmelStrickland and Dell, with Flynn handling lead vocals. (Killian could not perform with the other members due to his health condition).
