Lost to Wolves – Lost to Wolves Review

One of the real good things of this internet and YouTube and sharing and downloading thing is that many styles that didn’t have any way to show thair faces found a way to. I’m talking about Heavy Rock, a subgenre into Rock that was tremendously popular in the late 1960s and early 1970s. What happened to it? Well, in a way it evolved to heavier forms of music as Heavy Metal.

Okay, enough talking and let’s go for it, shall we?

Here we’ve got a Heavy Rock band with its debut and self-titled album Lost to Wolves. I really don’t know why, and I’m giving it a lot of thought to this matter, many Heavy Rock bands that I have reviewed here sound as a grunge band. I mean, not exactly sound all the time, but most of the time it’s possible to link their sonancies to grunge. That’s what happen here with Lost to Wolves. The band does sound grungy, but not shoegazed. The fact is that the voice of Jake Soe gives the Soundgarden sonancy. Hey, but don’t go slashing or badmouthing the band just because. It’s a natural thing that happens all the time. In fact, the music the band offers is pretty consistent and heavy, very heavy. Another thing that reinforces the grungy feeling is the total absence of guitar solos. For the record, there were lots of them in classic Heavy Rock songs. I dare to say that more than in other styles of rock.

All the six tracks that are part of this self-titled album go in the same direction. Lost to Wolves found themselves a formula, and that’s not a bad thing. No, sir. It’s the way a band finds to reinforce their music. I mean, to have that personality that everybody talks about and requires from a band. So, from head to toe, from “One Fine Morning” to “Maya” the band keeps the faith and feeling. Not bad for a debut album, if you ask me.
