Pterodactyl Problems - Esoteric Hobbies

There’s nothing like the good old hard rock to warm up the always freezing monday – mondays are terrible, do you not agree? Pterodactyl Problems “Esoteric Hobbies” are the great response to this sleeping day when the only thing you want to do is stay in bed for a few more minutes. The album is opened with the rise-whatever-is-dead “Paresthesia” with a great dose of rhythm and blues and southern rock. Also, it begins with a prominent bass line the kicks off the jam to introduce the band. “Paresthesia” is a great guitar-phrase driven track.

Pterodactyl Problems are a band with one foot on the past and other in the present. Following track “Protest” has those modern features as the strong chordly guitar riffing and the typical vocals. The song gets it on when they slow down and go on with clean guitars. It’s clear the 1990s punk influences on them as “Alone in the Cold” rolls on with its punkish choruses ‘pah-pah-ra-pah-pah-ra’ – have you heard? The 1990’s punk flavor is stronger in this particular track. “Heavy,” for instance, is a track that was specially designed to be radiobroadcasted with its rhythm and blues cadence and clean guitars. “Esoteric Hobbies” is an album that brings lots of fun if you’re into it. Pterodactyl Problems’ intent is clear to update hard rock inserting some dashes of 1990s punk rock. Well, this idea works fine for them. There are thirteen tracks of the three-minute average that do provide some fun. Tracks are very energetic and make you bang at large if you are willing to do it.
