Rocker-turned-filmmaker Rob Zombie has teamed up with “The Walking Dead” artist Tony Moore to create an animated film about the French Revolution, which is the setting for the upcoming “Assassin’s Creed Unity” video game. Check out the short film below.

Said Zombie about his involvement with the project: “When the ‘Assassin’s Creed’ thing came up and it was all taking place during the French Revolution, I thought that was incredibly attractive, because that is such a dark, weird time yet so visually stunning.

“At first, it seemed like an odd thing for a video game, but after getting deeper into it, I realized that it was perfect.

Tony Moore is helping to imagine some of this, doing the story boards and the layout art. And I thought, ‘Well, he’s fantastic, so that’ll be a great combination.’

“If you look at the reality of what went on in the French Revolution and the way things were done, I just thought, you know, it’s not like there’s tons of film footage of all this going down. Other things could have happened. And I would just look at each situation and kind of put my own twist on it.”

Asked how his collaboration with Zombie came about, Moore told Game Informer: “I had worked with Rob before. I did some covers for his ‘Spookshow International’ comics right after ‘The Walking Dead’. My friend Angry Blue is a poster artist. He did all the finishing on the artwork [in the short] and he had actually been talking to [the producers] before I was ever brought in. They wanted someone who had more of a storytelling background and Angry Blue and I were friends. He’s from Kentucky, too. So we hit it off and he reached out to me and they brought me in, and… yeah. I knew it was going to be fun because I had worked with Rob before and was familiar with his work. I knew it was going to be a good time.”
