A statue of late MOTÖRHEAD frontman Ian “Lemmy” Kilmister was unveiled yesterday in legendary Rainbow Bar & Grill on Sunset Boulevard in West Hollywood, California.

Few videos and photos from ceremony can be seen below.

Los Angeles-based artist and friend of the Rainbow and the Sunset Strip Travis Moore has been selected to create a realistic depiction of late MOTÖRHEAD frontman Ian “Lemmy” Kilmister. The result is a life-size cast bronze statue that will stand at just over 6 foot tall at The Rainbow Bar & Grill in a special shrine that is currently being constructed in the patio bar area.

A native of Texas, Travis did his part for free, but there were considerable costs associated with the actual process that ultimately made the statute a reality. A funding campaign was launched by Katon De Pena from classic underground thrash-metal band HIRAX, who raised about $23,000 to support the building of the statue.

Lemmy passed away on December 28, just two days after he found out that he was afflicted with an aggressive form of cancer.
