Bringers of darkness, THE DOOMSDAY KINGDOM, release their first lyric video today. The haunting track “The Sceptre” comes off their demo EP “Never Machine“, out on November 25th, and delivers a mezmerising first impression of CANDLEMASS’ Leif Edling‘s new brainchild. Watch the clip below.

‘The Sceptre’ is one of the first songs I wrote for THE DOOMSDAY KINGDOM“, mastermind Leif Edling remembers. “It is pretty aggressive with several cool riffs thrown in and definitely in an old school metal vein! I’m a huge fan of both NWOBHM and its American counterpart, so it was very enjoyable to see the track come together in such a good way. This is of course the demo version, and I must say that the album track is even harder and also a bit more arranged with a couple of nice guitar harmonies here and there and also a mellotron!”

But Leif also explains the story behind the 7 minute long journey:
“The song is about the perpetual war between the red and the black queen in some kind of fairy tale world. The red queen rides on a rat and her black twin has been turned into a swan through sorcery several hundred years earlier. They battle over a sceptre that gives the heir obsolete reign in the kingdom, but of course nobody manages to win the war before the sun goes down, and everything starts all over again at sunrise the next day.”

“After hosting CANDLEMASS and AVATARIUM in years past, we are thrilled to have THE DOOMSDAY KINGDOM as they make their debut on stage – the first time playing live anywhere!” exclaims Walter Roadburn. “There could not be a better setting than Het Patronaat for what’s sure to be a pilgrimage of doom for Roadburners from around the world. Don’t miss it!”

Roadburn 2017 takes place from Thursday, April 20, to Sunday, April 23, in Tilburg, the Netherlands.

THE DOOMSDAY KINGDOM‘s new EP “Never Machine” will contain these four enthralling songs as demo-versions:
01. Never Machine
02. The Sceptre
03. Zodiac City
04. The Whispering
