SLIPKNOT has released an official performance video for the single “The Chapeltown Rag,” and it can be seen below.
The M. Shawn “Clown” Crahan-directed visual frames the visceral experience of the band’s unparalleled live performance. True to form, heavy music’s generational ambassadors in SLIPKNOT set the community ablaze late last year with the launch of a brand new offensive packaged with cryptic fanfare.
Within the span of about a week’s time, the band methodically disseminated veiled messaging from the then unreleased music, fueling speculation that their plan of attack was imminent.
“The Chapeltown Rag” was originally released this past November. Recorded during recent sessions for a yet-to-be-announced new album, “The Chapeltown Rag” barrels forward with the speed of a derailed freight train and incisively eviscerates internet culture from the inside out with a scream, “WHEN EVERYTHING IS GOD ONLINE…NOTHING IS.”
During a recent appearance on Eddie Trunk‘s SiriusXM Trunk Nation With Eddie Trunk, SLIPKNOT singer Corey Taylor offered an update on band‘s follow-up to 2019 We Are Not Your Kind.
“The artwork’s done,” he said. “We just came up with the title. I’m not gonna tell you it right now. But we’re really stoked.
“It’s really killer, man,” Corey continued. “It’s darker than We Are Not Your Kind, but there’s a ton of melody. I’ve been telling everybody that it’s like a heavier version of Vol. 3. It’s got so many textures and layers. The heavy stuff has attack but the melodic stuff you can just sink your teeth in; there’s a lot of great melodies and hooks. I’m really, really excited for people to hear it.”
