SLIPKNOT’s 25th Anniversary Vinyl Box Set Sells Out Instantly, Fans Outraged By Extremely Limited Release

Slipknot 6 LP Box Set

SLIPKNOT fans were left both thrilled and frustrated over the weekend after the band’s much-hyped mystery countdown ended with the surprise launch of an ultra-limited deluxe 6-LP 25th Anniversary Blood Filled Box Set — which sold out within minutes.

For weeks, fans had been speculating about the cryptic teaser website 742617000027.net, which featured a countdown set to expire on July 21 at 3 PM ET / 12 PM PT. Many believed it would unveil a 25th-anniversary edition of SLIPKNOT’s 1999 self-titled debut. However, when the timer hit zero, fans were met with server errors and technical glitches, leaving many confused and unable to access the announcement.

When the dust settled, the band revealed the 25th Anniversary Blood Filled Box Set, limited to just 100 copies worldwide, each priced at $249.99. The set includes 59 tracks spanning six colored vinyl LPs, with over 40 previously unreleased songs, Indigo Ranch demos and mixes, rare live cuts from 1999–2000, and nine exclusive photo cards featuring unseen band images.

Unsurprisingly, the 100 copies were snapped up within minutes, leaving many fans disappointed by the exclusivity and limited quantity. On Reddit, some fans voiced their frustration:

“That’s pretty good. Tease us up on a faulty website and sell us what we really don’t necessarily need. Starting to approach Kiss levels.”

“What a scam and a joke.”

“Well that was a joke and a waste of time for everyone, thanks so much.”

What’s Inside the Box Set

The 6-LP collection is a deep dive into Slipknot’s early years, offering a comprehensive look at their raw, unpolished sound. Here’s a breakdown of what’s included:

  • LP1 – Original Slipknot (Self-Titled) Album
  • LP2 & LP3Indigo Ranch Mixes, featuring early alternate versions and rarities
  • LP4Demos & Alternate Mixes (including early takes of “Wait And Bleed,” “Surfacing,” and more)
  • LP5Live in Hartford & the UK (1999–2000)
  • LP6Live in the UK & Iowa (2000)

Each set comes with exclusive artwork, collectible photo cards, and a curated selection of rare band images.

Fan Reaction and What’s Next

While hardcore collectors were delighted to grab one of the 100 sets, the general consensus among fans is that the release was far too limited, with many calling on the band to release a more accessible version.

With the official box set now marked as “Sorry, Sold Out,” many fans are hoping SLIPKNOT will announce an alternate edition — possibly a digital or expanded vinyl release — to allow more of their fanbase to enjoy these rare recordings.
