Former EXODUS frontman Steve “Zetro” Souza rocked Anaheim on Saturday, January 24, performing with his solo band at The Ballroom at The Grand Theater. The night featured a set packed with classic EXODUS tracks, deep cuts from the LEGACY demo, and a few fan-favorite TESTAMENT songs.
Souza’s current run of solo performances follows the debut of his solo project last September, which saw him play two Florida shows at the Brass Mug in Tampa and Piper’s in Pompano Beach. These gigs allowed him to reconnect with fans through both iconic EXODUS songs and rarities from his earlier career.
Backing Souza at the Anaheim show were a tight lineup of seasoned metal musicians: Zakk Frye (SLIKK WIKKED) on rhythm guitar and backing vocals, Kyle Smith (SLIKK WIKKED) on lead guitar, Andrew Dewar (VICIOUS INTENT) on drums, and Donny “Death” Weissinger (NASTY TRAST, HATE GRENADE) handling bass duties.
Souza is keeping the California shows rolling, with a performance set for later today, January 26, at the Great American Music Hall in San Francisco. When the show was announced, Zetro expressed his excitement: “Well, Bay Area, I have booked a home show. Monday, January 26 at the Great American Music Hall. Absolutely honored to play that place with my solo band for the very first time, I will be playing old school EXODUS deep cuts that have not been played in a long time. I’m also playing most of the LEGACY demo and some other LEGACY/TESTAMENT songs. Joining me on the show will be the guys from PHANTOM WITCH. I hope to see the Bay Area come out strong for the show. See you guys in the pit.”
Looking further ahead, Souza will take his solo project international, embarking on a three-date tour of Australia in early February 2026.
