AC/DC guitarist Stevie Young made his return to the stage on March 23 in Buenos Aires, just four days after being hospitalized in the Argentinian capital.

Last Thursday (March 19), it was reported by Reuters that the 69-year-old musician had been admitted to a local hospital ahead of the band’s scheduled three-night run at Estadio Monumental. At the time, a spokesperson for the band reassured fans with the following statement: “Out of an abundance of caution, [Stevie] was admitted to a local hospital where he is undergoing a full battery of tests. Stevie is doing well and is in good spirits. He is looking forward to getting on stage on Monday.”

True to that statement, Stevie delivered a full performance with AC/DC on Monday night, playing the band’s entire 21-song set in front of approximately 85,000 fans at Estadio Monumental. His appearance effectively put to rest concerns about his health impacting the South American leg of the tour.

AC/DC are currently in Buenos Aires as part of their ongoing “Power Up” tour, which kicked off in 2024 and continues to draw massive crowds worldwide. The band’s three-night stint in the city will continue with additional shows scheduled for March 27 and March 31.

Stevie Young has been a key figure in AC/DC’s lineup since officially joining in 2014, stepping in for his uncle, Malcolm Young, following Malcolm’s dementia diagnosis. Long before that, he had already proven his place within the band’s tight-knit rhythm section by filling in during their 1988 U.S. tour.

He went on to perform on both Rock or Bust and Power Up, becoming an official member in 2014 and helping guide the band through a new era following Malcolm’s passing in 2017. From the “Rock or Bust” World Tour to the current global run, Stevie has remained a steady and reliable presence at the core of AC/DC’s sound.

With his return on stage, fans can look forward to the remaining Buenos Aires shows going ahead as planned.
