STONE SOUR Guitarist Says JAY WEINBERG ‘Saved’ SLIPKNOT

Josh Rand Jay Weinberg

STONE SOUR guitarist Josh Rand has shared his opinion on SLIPKNOT‘s latest album We Are Not Your Kind during his recent appearance on Loudwire Nights.

“I heard several songs,” Rand said. “You know, I think the thing that amazes me out of everything is: I have to tip my hat to [drummer] Jay Weinberg, I think his drumming is incredible.

“I think, in a lot of ways, he saved that band. And to me, it’s his shining moment, that’s what I took from that record. I was, like, ‘Good on you, dude.’ He made the most of that opportunity and he delivered.”

Weinberg joined SLIPKNOT in 2014 following the departure of Joey Jordison in late 2013.

We Are Not Your Kind was released on August 9 via Roadrunner Records. Album was once again recorded at a Los Angeles studio with producer Greg Fidelman, who engineered and mixed SLIPKNOT‘s 2004 album Vol. 3: (The Subliminal Verses) and helmed 2014’s .5: The Gray Chapter.

In March, SLIPKNOT announced the departure with Fehn after he filed a lawsuit against his band members over unpaid loyalties.

In his lawsuit, Fehn claims to have always been told that the money from merchandise and touring is funneled through one sole company that splits profits and pays the members of the band. However, Fehn claims he recently discovered that his bandmates have set up several other SLIPKNOT-affiliated business entities in different states that appear to be collecting money from the band.
