‘Super Satanic Vibes’ From GHOST Show Blamed For Orlando Magic Loss By Kia Center Employee

A now-deleted Reddit post has sparked some unexpected conversation at the crossroads of NBA basketball and theatrical heavy metal.

Earlier this week, a user claiming to work at Orlando’s Kia Center suggested that the Orlando Magic’s recent struggles on the court might be tied to lingering “energy” left behind by a concert from Swedish rock band GHOST. The post, which was later removed but archived by The Noise, quickly made the rounds online for its unusual explanation.

In the post, the alleged arena employee pointed to GHOST’s January 21 performance at the Kia Center—part of the band’s ongoing “Skeletour”—as a possible reason for the Magic’s poor showing the following night against the Charlotte Hornets. Orlando suffered a home loss on January 22, prompting the fan theory.

The employee’s full commentary read as follows: “So I work at Kia. The night before we got blown out by Charlotte there was a concert there by this rock band called GHOST & I’m not even exaggerating super satanic vibes. Devil imagery, stained-glass church setup, chanting ‘Lucifer,’ all types of weird s**t I’m not into at all. I was mad as hell I was forced to sit through that lol. So my theory is that whatever energy they left in the building carried over into the game because there’s no other explanation for how bad we looked. Is this a valid excuse or are we just inconsistent af? Either way … let’s get this W tonight.”

GHOST, fronted by Tobias Forge, are well known for their elaborate stage productions, which often incorporate religious and occult imagery as part of the band’s satirical and theatrical aesthetic. While the group has long courted controversy in some circles, their live shows are typically celebrated by fans for their spectacle and tongue-in-cheek presentation.

Despite the supernatural explanation gaining some traction online, most fans were quick to chalk the Magic’s loss up to normal basketball inconsistencies rather than lingering “satanic vibes.” Still, the post added an unexpected—and humorous—footnote to GHOST’s Orlando stop and the Magic’s midseason woes.
