It is always a supreme pleasure to have the opportunity to review a sequence of albums of a band. It is a gold opportunity to check out their sonic evolution if the band got far from their roots or if their musical signature is still the same. Well, we reviewed their 2023s album “Macabre Ritual” and by that it is possible to say that the band is pretty much the same. “Worshipers Of The Ancient Necromancy” commences pretty much the same way its predecessor started with the instrumental track “Obscure Black Oath” whose overtones sound far from Modern Black Metal outfits. Again there are no guitar leads in the album what makes me consider this is one of the musical signatures of the band.
With “Worshipers Of The Ancient Necromancy,” Temple of Katharsis bring a mix of Old School Black Metal techniques and overtones plus some more modern ones. This mix is the beauty of this album. It is really interesting to listen to songs with moden techniques and features with the Old School Black Metal overtones. The outcome is really fantastic. The eight minute grand finale “Horned Entity” is a great examle of that. Its epic features take the fan by the guts. To some extent, “The Season Of The Bloodhunt” does the same, however, with some Thrash Metal grip in its soul. The slow movements, on the other hand, are pretty Black Metal to me. I really liked the speed-up movements of “Celebrating The Coronation Of Grand Evil,“ a track that do remind the good old days. But it is the title track “Worshipers Of The Ancient Necromancy” speeds up the most combining both features that are the band’s musical signature. The melodic slow movements give the song a very ethereal mood that highlights it. Now, following track “Tainaro“ keeps the good job adding more speed and velocity to the album.
We have here an album that deals with lots of ability combining Old School Black Metal overtones with modern features. For that reason, I have to say “Worshipers Of The Ancient Necromancy” is a great album and encourage my dear fans to listen to it.
