Despite a turbulent year marked by controversy, Tim Lambesis appears determined to breathe new life into AS I LAY DYING once again. Following a wave of public fallout, leaked home surveillance footage, and the departure of every other member of the band, Lambesis has now aligned with FM Music Management—the team behind metal heavyweights like TESTAMENT and EXODUS—for what seems to be the next chapter in the metalcore group’s saga.
The controversy surrounding Lambesis and his estranged wife Dany came to a head late last year, with viral footage showing Lambesis in a highly agitated state during several confrontations. These incidents coincided with the band’s complete lineup collapse, as members exited one by one, each citing behavior they could no longer support. In response, Lambesis attributed his actions to anxiety and accused Dany of abuse, suggesting the footage was leaked in retaliation after he filed for divorce.
Further damage came when additional footage surfaced showing Lambesis allegedly being abusive toward his dog. And in April, former guitarist Ken Susi publicly refuted Lambesis’s version of events, detailing his own experiences during the band’s implosion in a candid interview.
While things have been quiet since, the recent partnership with FM Music Management signals that Lambesis is actively rebuilding. No new lineup has been announced yet, and the band’s future remains uncertain—especially with fans still divided over Lambesis’s past, which includes a 2014 prison sentence for attempting to hire a hitman to murder his then-wife.
As AS I LAY DYING inches toward another revival, the question remains: can Lambesis—and the band—weather yet another storm?
