Responding to a tweet of This Day in Metal explaining the origin of his moniker, Tim “Ripper” Owens retweeted and offered his version of the fact. This Day in Metal posted that the moniker was given when he was in a Judas Priest’s tribute band. Owens denied the version and told that it was Judas Priest’s guys that gave him the moniker after singing the song “The Ripper.”

I’m just a lucky guy who has chosen metal to live with for a long time. Metal changed my life for good. It made me more confident and stronger. Metalheads are naturally far away from the mass mediocrity and don’t accept impostures from anybody else. Metal is more than music, it’s a life changing oportunity!
