BLACK SABBATH‘s legendary guitarist Tony Iommi has sent a message of support to METALLICA frontman James Hetfield.
Iommi made comments few days after METALLICA announced cancellation of their Australia and New Zealand tour so that Hetfield could enter rehab to battle his addictions.
“You’ve done the right thing seeking help — I’m thinking of you my friend and wishing you all the very best on your recovery,” Iommi wrote on social media. Looking forward to seeing you back at your best very soon. Your pal Tony.”
In 2002, Hetfield entered a rehab program and began maintaining total abstinence from alcohol. In a 2010 interview with So What!, the official magazine of METALLICA‘s fan club, Hetfield stated that he is a “reborn straight edge.”
