A new unauthorized documentary delving into the passionate yet turbulent relationship between late STATIC-X frontman Wayne Static and his wife Tera Wray is officially moving forward. The film will be directed by Matt Zane, a longtime friend and collaborator of the couple, with production expected to begin in January 2026.

Zane revealed that he will also be launching a crowdfunding campaign in January to support the project, which aims to present a raw and deeply personal look into the lives of Wayne and Tera — a story he feels compelled to complete.

“Most people are unaware that I knew Wayne for about 14 years, and I actually knew his wife Tera before him,” Zane said. “We were all close, and I worked on every project he did after leaving STATIC-X.”

Zane previously directed several of Wayne’s solo music videos, including “Assassins Of Youth,” “Pighammer Promo,” and “Noise Revolution” (featuring DMC). Before Wayne’s passing in 2014, the trio had begun developing an ambitious docuseries chronicling Wayne and Tera’s life together, but the project was never completed due to financial setbacks.

“I filmed bits and pieces over the years, but we needed a few solid weeks in the desert at their house to finish it — that was the plan. Unfortunately, funding fell through,” Zane explained. “I know this is something Wayne and Tera wanted to get done, and they wanted me to do it. I feel I owe them this — to tell their story the way they wanted it told.”

The upcoming documentary will also include previously unreleased music that Zane recorded with Wayne.

He said: “There’s about an EP’s worth of material Wayne and I recorded for a movie Tera was doing, but his label stepped in and stopped it. Some of those ideas ended up on ‘Pighammer’, but the rest has been sitting in my archives. I’m revisiting it now and will finish some of it with help from A.I. technology.”

While Zane moves forward with production, he is also reaching out to those who were close to the couple between 2008 and 2015, inviting friends, colleagues, and collaborators to share memories and insights. Those interested can reach him through the contact form at EveryoneDiesTheMovie.com.

It’s important to note that the families of Wayne Static and Tera Wray, as well as STATIC-X’s original members, are not involved with or endorsing the project.

Wayne Static, born Wayne Richard Wells, passed away on November 1, 2014, at age 48. His death was ruled accidental, caused by mixing Xanax and other prescription drugs with alcohol. Two years later, Tera Wray tragically took her own life in January 2016.
