Guitarist Glenn Tipton reunited with JUDAS PRIEST on stage during the band’s concert in their hometown on Tuesday night (March 19) at the Resorts World Arena in Birmingham, England. This marked one of several occasions over the past six years where Tipton joined PRIEST for the encore, contributing to performances of “Metal Gods” and “Living After Midnight”.
Tipton received a diagnosis of Parkinson’s disease a decade ago, though he had been grappling with the condition for at least five years prior. However, in early 2018, he declared his decision to abstain from touring with JUDAS PRIEST in support of their Firepower album.
In his first interview since disclosing his condition in early 2018, Glenn, who celebrated his 76th birthday last October, shared details of his diagnosis with Guitar World magazine. He said at the time: “It was upsetting, but I wasn’t really shocked because I sort of thought it was Parkinson’s. I probably hoped it wasn’t but the doctor said it was.”
“Hearing that I already had Parkinson’s for a long time made me even more determined to fight. I could still play, so I just continued recording and touring.”
