GREEN DAY were abruptly pulled off stage during their Detroit concert on the night of September 4th after an unauthorized drone flew over the venue.
While performing their fifth song of the evening, “Longview” from the album Dookie, at Comerica Park, the band was swiftly escorted off the stage by security.
The crowd was left without an immediate explanation, with a message on the screens stating, “Show Pause. Please stand by for details.”
It was later revealed that venue security had spotted an unauthorized drone flying near the stage, prompting the temporary halt. The drone operator was found outside Comerica Park and arrested, pending further investigation.
After a 10-minute delay, GREEN DAY returned to the stage, finishing “Longview” and completing their 37-song setlist.
“We’re gonna pick up where we left off.” Billie Joe told the crowd before asking them to put down their mobile phones: “Pull ’em out later. Let’s be here right now.”
GREEN DAY later wrote on social media: “Detroit! Sorry for the delay in the show tonight, Stadium security had us clear the stage while they dealt with a potential safety issue. DPD quickly resolved the situation, and we were able to continue. Thanks for understanding.”
